Head Start!

The EU head start event has already started for people who pre-ordered the game. If you're not in game and you playing in EU, you're missing out!

As for NA, the event will start 8am PST tomorrow, so set your alarm clocks!

For the NA players, you can go to this website to see how much time is left until the event starts in case you get confused with timezones (which I often do and can't be bothered with timezone conversions).

  4. Enter "TERABETA" (without the quotations)
  5. Download the client and patch away!
Note: The client for TERA is actually quite large, at around 26GB so it will take a significant amount of free disk space as well as time to download it.

CB5 Videos

As promised, I've uploaded some, but not all the videos that I took during CB5.

First one is a full run of the newest dungeon which was Cultist's Refuge. My party was experienced enough to run the dungeon without a tank so we proceeded to do so (plus there were no tanks available at the time.

Second is a compilation of videos where my guild was fighting World Boss. The entire battle probably went on for more than an hour so I just cropped the major fights that took place in between. There are five fights in total, but I'll only link the first one. You can see my other videos on my youtube account here.

I will be uploading a couple more videos (hopefully tomorrow, but don't quote me), so until then.

Will you be buying the preorder if you haven't already? Have you already bought it? I've put a poll on the right for you to answer as I'm curious. For anything else, please comment below!

By the way, I've recorded some videos as per usual and will upload them in a few days from now. Thanks for waiting!

Battlegrounds to be Released in Summertime

Battlegrounds for NA TERA will be released this coming summer.
Hey there, TERA fans!

Over the course of the past four beta tests, we’ve been closely reviewing TERA’s PvP as a whole and seeing how to make those systems even better. For example, we introduced a new server ruleset specifically for open-world PvP and reduced the required level to participate from nearly maximum level down to the moment you leave the Island of Dawn starting area. Using the Outlaw Declaration ability, players have been able to attack their fellow Valkyon Federation members, an especially popular activity on the bridges leaving Lumbertown (yes, we saw what you did there).

In addition to open-world PvP, consensual options including duels and deathmatches have brought the total body count to more than 300,000 since the start of closed beta. Closed beta test 2 also gave guilds the ability to declare war on each other. Since that single beta weekend, characters sporting purple-colored names (indicating an active guild war) have become a very common sight. This is just the beginning, and we will continue to make incremental changes based on community feedback—YOUR feedback.

This brings us to an upcoming system we’ll be introducing to TERA after launch: battlegrounds. These organized PvP matches add a level of structure to what is currently very situational gameplay. Rather than having to go looking for a fight, the bloodthirstier members of the TERA community can step into instanced battlegrounds for an immediate PvP combat venue. The excitement of battlegrounds combined with the inherent challenge of TERA’s action combat is a recipe for awesome in our book. Add in unique features like tactical area-of-effect abilities controlled by one team member, environmental damage through player-triggered traps, spawned monsters to distract you from your opponents, or changing map layouts that keep things fresh, and you get an idea where we’re taking organized PvP in TERA.

Excited yet? So are we, particularly about the competitiveness this feature will bring to TERA. We want to get it right from the start. This means that battlegrounds will be a post-launch addition to the game while we hammer away at making them meet our high standard of quality, rooting out exploits, and maximizing fun factor. While we really wanted to have battlegrounds for launch, we think you’ll agree that this added time means a more polished feature and overall experience. Like you, we also think that waiting sucks. The good news is twofold: while we’re aiming to introduce battlegrounds late this summer, we’ll showcase the political system at launch with popular voting as the initial election method for all provinces. On a related note, we’re working to make it so that guilds will be able to declare war on each other regardless of server ruleset.

We’re eager to hear your feedback about our plans for battlegrounds. We’ll be listening and sharing updates about this and other TERA features in the coming weeks; count on it!

End of CB4 NA Beta

Last night was the last day you could participate in the fourth NA closed beta hosted by En Masse Entertainment. It was a lot of fun and the level 38 dungeon was very, very beautiful. Unfortunately, during the dungeon run, our party wiped and I never got another chance to record another (I only ran Cultist's Refuge twice). Next beta, I'll make sure I get another run in while recording to showcase how amazing the whole things looked. For now though, I can only provide you with some cool looking pictures.

Next weekend, it'll be the Europeans' turn for their CB4 beta. Hope you guys have fun!

Patch 16.03.07 and TERA Beta!

In 12 hours from this post, the NA TERA server will be up and running full throttle to kick start the fourth beta! A nice countdown timer to look at is here. Get ready!

Oh and if you haven't yet, please run your launcher now so you can pre-patch before the servers go up to save time and frustration.

Patch notes:

Cool New Stuff

  • In PvP situations, player level will be exposed when you target another player (just like monsters display their level). This should help those "fight or flight" decisions.
  • Doubled the maximum number of characters you can type into all chat channels. We promise it won't go all "Barrens chat" on you, though.
  • Increased difficulty from levels 1–15 on an experimental basis. Players will have around 30% less HP and return to baseline by level 20. That red bar at the top of your screen? Kinda important.
  • Terron Treasure Trove Event: Added surprise boxes around the world (except for Island of Dawn). We'd tell you more, but then it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?

Bugs Squashed

  • Certain quest items were nonexistent due to continent restrictions, but now they're back. Quest gatherables and monsters will be back in Osgarath province for level 30–33 characters.

NA Game Content Updates!

With the 3rd closed beta over, EME has been hard at work making TERA a better experience for all their customers. Today, they changed 3 quite impactful things that you might like or hate:
We've been working hard on bringing TERA to North America, and have also had a hand in shaping TERA specifically with our gamers in mind. This past GDC we spoke with media about what we've been working on specifically for North America, but I wanted to talk about a few changes that we’ve made:

• Removed private stores – we removed private stores from TERA so we could make the broker system the central hub of the player economy. We’ve increased the limit of items that can be sold from 8 to 50 and think this will help players to go to one place to find whatever they need

• Implemented Bind on Pickup (BoP) items – For some items, we’ve implemented a BoP system which lets us give better equipment to players without having to worry as much about RMT farming items.

• Removed Boxes of Mischief – I personally have a negative winning streak with these, and overall we felt that it was a chance based system that frustrated more players than it benefited. We removed them and used the space in the loot drop tables to chances for other cool things to drop

There are a lot more changes and enhancements that we’ve been working on, and as we get closer to our OBT and Launch we’ll keep sharing what we’re doing so y’all know what to expect and give us feedback.

Thanks!
-Chager
Yes, they've taken out player shops, introduced soulbound items, and removed those boxes that steal your materials. I'm personally against all 3 of these changes:
  1. I use private stores to buy things while I'm afk at my own prices. This means I don't have to spend time and energy to look for the things I want to buy, except initially setting up the store.
  2. I've always found soulbound items to be a nuisance and caused more harm then help.
  3. Boxes of Mischief are fun to play with. I don't think people use these seriously in any way because they have a negative win rate. I've always treated this like a small mini-game to pass the time.

Patch 16.03.06 for NA TERA!

New patch for the upcoming NA beta!

PvP Server Changes

  • We've added more PvP rules with this update—it's now uncool to kill players 6+ levels lower than you. These players will now receive the red name of shame and their punishment will be left up to the community.
    • You will now earn Infamy Points for killing lower-level players—60 points for players 6-10 levels lower than you; 120 points for players 11 or more levels lower than you.
    • If you have even one Infamy Point, you will be labeled an outlaw.
    • We won't penalize you for being an outlaw (having Infamy Points), but the community may retaliate as it sees fit.
    • Infamy Points will diminish at a rate of one every five minutes. You can also work them down one at a time by killing monsters equal to your level or higher.

Controller Updates!

  • We added a /controller command to access the controller options. We're looking at you, Nostromo users.
  • The controller option will now default to camera- or reticle-facing rather than character-facing. This should also please players using a controller-plus-mouse combination.
    • Quick tip: if you are using a controller with a melee class, try using the character-facing option.
  • All classes can now hold down the main attack controller button to activate the combo attacks. This works the same way as holding down your mouse button.

Quest Updates

  • Strife in Fey Forest and Keeping the Quota now spawn their quest objectives more often in more places.
  • A Measure of Vengeance will now spawn its objective in three different locations.
  • Faeries in a Fix is no longer a prerequisite to the Faerie Emissary quest.

A Few Other Miscellaneous Changes

  • Implemented a five-second cast time to switch between channels. No more sitting on the couch and channel-surfing.
  • Zone channels now have better scaling based on population, so should provide a more seamless party experience when zoning into an area.
  • The "Exchange" menu option has been changed to "Claim Items". You won’t have items to claim yet, but this is where your pre-order and Collector's Edition goodies will be!
  • Guild slash commands (/gkick, /guildkick, /gmaster, /guildmaster) are no longer case sensitive to the player's name. Rage-kicking your guildies has never been easier!

What Happened? (Some Things to Still Look Out For)

  • Circle the Wagons – Cinematic will not render environmental detail if player has Distant Environmental detail below the max setting of six.
  • Cancelling a teleport still consumes the scroll.
  • Mystic thrall re-engages monster after player dies. Seeking revenge, we presume.
  • Closing your launcher after entering TERA will cause possible crashes at server select. Please keep your launcher running to avoid this issue.
  • Dynamic Veridian – This mount quest will appear twice now if you are level 11 and log into 16.03.05. It won’t, however, get you a horse of another color.
  • Queues are displaying ordinals incorrectly. ("You are 1th} in line.") If it was just "1th" it wouldn’t be a big deal, but you can’t handle the "2th".
  • Items with a re-use cooldown over 20 minutes display the cooldown abnormally in the tooltip window.
  • When the Negotiate Confirmation popup (the brokerage negotiation) UI shows under ten seconds remaining, clicking OK does not work.
  • When a priest's Final Reprisal is triggered as a chain skill, the chain skill icon disappears too quickly.
  • Lock-on skills that are not registered on the first skill tray do not fire with left-click.
  • Mystic's Thrall of Life reports amount healed twice. That thrall…what a showoff.
  • The effects of both glyphs for the mystic's skill Teleport Jaunt do not apply at the same time.
  • When a stacked item without a cooldown (such as a charm) is placed on the shortcut tray and right-clicked, you will spend two rather than just one. Charming.

Super Super Super Sampling!

Forgot to post this but a while back, I got my hands on this picture that shows how to get SGSSAA (Sparse Grid Super Sampling Anti Aliasing). What this does is it smooths the entire frame instead of the edge of each polygon (normal Anti Aliasing). In layman terms, basically it makes the game look better with no jagged edges you always see in 3D games, but at the hefty cost of your precious framerate. It is also recommended to only do this if your machine is relatively good, else stay away or you're going to make your game unplayable. I haven't had the chance to test this yet as I haven't played for almost two weeks and I only recently got this info. Unfortunately, this picture only shows how to do it with an NVidia card, though I'm sure ATI cards can also enable SGSSAA if you really wanted to.

NA Closed Beta 3

Friday this week at 12:00pm PST! I'll be playing my Slayer again, but hopefully, my Mystic will get some playtime as well.

Whilst they're upping the level cap to 32, the bad thing is that there is no new dungeon. What this ultimately means is, we're going to be stuck with the manor dungeon; doing runs over and over again to get all the gold equips. I don't mind it though, as we will be seeing some new grinding areas. The scenery in this game never fails to astound me.

I can't wait!

Closed Beta 2 Videos - Random

Some random clips that don't really have their own categories somehow got uploaded. I don't want to waste the efforts so I'll be keeping them. The first video is of me doing random in-game stuff with my Slayer much like what you would see in a stream. I most likely recorded this accidentally so what the hey, watch it if you're bored.

Random Slayer Gameplay

Just look at all these people camping the safe zones...

Safe Zone Camping in Poporion 1 & 2
No Fun Allowed vs their small alternate guild, Still No Fun Allowed. We then run into Touch Fluffy Tails and hang with them.

NFA vs their alt Guild & some of TFT
After getting bored of the mansion, we all decide to go back to Velika and we see Aphotic. We then proceed to trample them into Velika. They then never come out after that...

NFA & TFT vs Aphotic

Fun times!

Closed Beta 2 Videos - Crab World Boss

Second is my guild and I taking down the crab world boss at Aurum Road near the ocean. Zerged the living daylights out of it.

See for yourself.

Dat Crab World Boss

Closed Beta 2 Videos - PvP

As promised, I've uploaded all the videos I recorded during the second closed beta and here they are in full 1080p glory! I'll split the types of videos into different categories so it's more organized.

Big Patch for KTERA in 1 Hour!

That's right! The KTERA patch that was talked about here is about to be released in about an hour. Koreans will have their first look at the 2 new dungeons while grinding their way up to level 60 (I'm sure in a mere few hours). Expect new dungeon gameplay videos as well as other new things soon!

Sidenote: If you want to watch a good KTERA stream, I recommend viewing Yinwaru's twitch.tv stream. He's an English-speaking player who plays at end-game TERA level and is very insightful. Check out his stream here.

Bug Reporting Incentive

Just very recently, a member on the official TERA forums attained a free Chronoscroll from En Masse themselves because he reported a bug. En Masse personally thanked him as well. Best company ever? From what I'm seeing, they're doing a great job.

For those who don't know what a Chronoscroll is, it extends your subscription to TERA for an additional 30 days, which can also be purchased in-game later on with gold or purchasing a subscription normally from En Masse.

Chronoscroll as a gift

The Calm Before The Storm

Not much happening in the TERA world right now. EU's beta just finished on Sunday last weekend and now the NA players are waiting for their fair share of PvP. I personally can't wait as I've been watching several videos of the gameplay and it looks very exciting!

I am planning on live stream myself playing TERA on the opening day of the beta. Fun times await.

Will be rolling a Slayer this time around.

Veteran's Guide and Dungeon Guide By En Masse

En Masse Entertainment recently just released a Veteran's Guide and a Dungeon Guide to the masses for important information that everyone will eventually need to know as they play more and more TERA. This guide speeds up the process by providing an easy-to-access knowledge base for all users to see.

First off, the Veteran's Guide is a guide that provides general knowledge of the game. It's a very useful guide for the noobs to learn more about their beloved TERA and for the occasional veteran whose forgotten what Gather No Moss does for the Baraka.

The second guide, called the Dungeon Guide is just as the name implies- it provides an abundance of information for each and every dungeon that is out (and will be out in the future). Anything from how to get to the dungeon to what the final boss spawns! However, it won't be updated right when a new dungeon comes out; what fun would that be? Therefore En Masse has said that they will release the dungeons' information in a timely manner after they believe most, if not everyone has ran through it at least once and experienced it.

Veteran's Guide: Click!
Dungeon Guide: Click!

Second Closed Beta Information Announced

Here's an excerpt by Scapes, the Digital Marketing Director of En Masse Entertainment:
  • Duration: Friday, February 24 at 12:00 PM PST to Sunday, February 26 at 11:59 PM PST
  • Servers: Arachnaea - PvE, Serpentis Isle - PvE, Valley of Titans - PvP
  • Maximum Level: 27
  • Character Slots: 2 per server
This is good news for all of us who want to roll a new character and try something different for the next time around as well as those who wish to continue their previous characters (which I'm sure most of you will to see the new content in store). A new server will also be included in the beta and lo and behold, it's a PvP server! Now the fun begins.

Original post is here: Click!

Choosing Your Class

Here's a guide/rough outline on how to choose your class when you play TERA if you haven't made up your mind. It gives a brief overview of what each class does as well as what it's primary role is. Races in TERA also come into play and so it is also covered.

Credits go to Luciferia of TERAPvp.

Massive Gear & Enchanting Guide

Here's a very in-depth nice guide by Deioth of Atra Astrum about every single detail on what you want to know for your TERA gear. It covers everything from special weapon attributes to the very minor details of enchanting.

Closed Beta 1 Videos - Vindicator Basecamp to Sandbar Beach

Just uploaded another video of me running around the higher leveled areas before the beta ended. This area I believe should be around the high 20s to low 30s.

Site Updates

Not much to post about today. Added the beta schedules for both NA and EU on the right and will be making more updates to the site for the next couple of days. Some new videos should be up tomorrow so adios until then!

NA TERA Patch 16.03.04

The patch that I've been waiting for! It covers the true max graphic settings that TERA can offer.

An excerpt of the patch notes:

Fixed Issues

  • The "Contact Support" button now brings you to the TERA Customer Support page on the website.
  • Moving the mouse pointer no longer skips the opening cinematic movie. It can be skipped by press any key.
  • The LFG, Vanarch, and Party Alert chat channels will now be moderated.
  • The description for Soothing Rhomb has been corrected.
  • When trying to create a new character, you will now be notified if you have reached the maximum number of characters on your account for that particular closed beta test.
  • Achievements will now display in the chat window properly.
  • This build replaces some existing textures with high-resolution textures. They will display if you set the graphics options to maximum.

Known Issues

  • The client may crash when trying to login to server after exiting the server queue screen.
  • The cinematic for the Circle the Wagons quest will not render environmental detail if your Distant Environmental Detail setting is below the max setting of 6.
  • Outlaw quests point you to NPC Kareras who is currently not labeled or clickable, and may not appear on the Mini-Map.
  • When changing locations, party members may "arrive" in a different channel.
  • The Contaminated Well area in the Quarantine Zone map has the incorrect environment textures.
  • Cancelling a Teleport Scroll mid-use will cancel the teleportation but still consume the item.
  • The quest objective and text of the Promised Support quest conflict.
  • The right ALT key registers as a double press with each single press. Use the left ALT key in the interim.
  • Piglings occasionally drop huge amounts of gold.
  • Battlegrounds are not implemented in this build.
  • The mystic's Thrall summon may re-engage monsters even after its summoning mystic dies.
You can patch to 16.03.04 by running and logging into the TERA launcher. Have you not downloaded TERA yet? If you've pre-ordered TERA from the En Masse store or applied a beta code to your En Masse account, you can visit your account page and grab the TERA launcher from there. For more information on downloading TERA, please refer to our Customer Support page.

Closed Beta 1 Videos - BAM Hunting!

Got two more videos uploaded today showcasing some BAM hunting action! Recorded these one hour before the close beta ended and it was very fun. Sorry about the people talking on Ventrilo, forgot to turn it off during recording.

Alright, first off, we got the level 21 BAM called Radak that's required for a quest! A pretty easy one.

And second, we have a level 24 BAM that we took down- slowly but surely as one of our DPS was on the phone half the time and the other one was severely underleveled and kept dying. Still very fun though.

As always, the videos are in 1080p HD so you can feel it as if you were actually playing the game!

Closed Beta 1 Videos - BAM Fails

Some BAMs that managed to kill my party and I. Rofl at that crab one hitting me. Definitely did not see that coming.

Crab BAM 1-hitting me

Spider BAM that was outside the Eldritch Academy if I remember correctly

Will be uploading more tomorrow!

Closed Beta 1 Videos - Flying my Lovely Pegasus

In the last post, I listed out all the videos of me on my horse running around and since I like being organized, I'm going to keep the flights in a separate post. Here are a couple of flights that I took and recorded. Most, if not all are with no GUI so enjoy the scenery!

Velika to Crescentia Flight Path

Cutthroat Harbour to Velika Flight Path

Pora Elinu to Velika Flight Path

And of course, full HD 1080p at max settings are on.

Closed Beta 1 Videos - Roaming Across TERA

So today, I uploaded all my videos that I took while roaming around. These places don't even have quests assigned to them as of yet and some of them don't even have NPCs! However, most of these places do have monsters (and lots of BAMs) for you guys to look at, so don't worry, just enjoy the pretty scenery and have a little preview of what's to expect in the later levels of the game.

Frymount to Castanica

Castanica to Vindicator Basecamp

Cliffs of Insanity to Sinestral Manor

Poporion to Eldritch Academy

Lake of Tears to Mad Jester Pass

Velika to Desert Research Station

Mags Tohopka to Storst Ruins

Desert of Plunder to Colossal Ruins

And like last video, these ones are also in full 1080p at the highest settings (at this time).

NA Closed Beta 1 Finished

Welp guys, the NA TERA servers just went down as the first Closed Beta finishes up its last remaining minutes. See you all in the Next upcoming Closed Beta phase!

TERA Bastion Final Boss

Here's a little video of me playing my Lancer in the first Closed Beta of the NA TERA. Yes, I know I suck, but give me a break, I played for 9 hours already and by the time I got there, I was already extremely tired. Also, it's also our first time fighting the boss so I knew nothing of his patterns beforehand. Our party had to learn in battle.

TERA Decensorship

As some of us know, there has been a huge uproar over the past few weeks about the censorship of Elins.

But thankfully, there is a fix to it. A very nice modder by the name of Naduron has released a decensored model package from the Korean TERA. All you have to do is create a backup of your current model files (optional, but recommended), and then paste the Korean model files into the specified folder which is in the readme. His website is here: http://tera-mods.blogspot.com/ for more information.

He's also made some other decensorship mods for the High Elf and the Castanic females, though I won't post pictures here as you CAN in fact see their nipples through the armor and I'd like to keep this a non-adult only blog. He has also made some sound modifications taken from the Korean TERA and Japanese TERA if you're interested in that.

Once again, his website is http://tera-mods.blogspot.com/

First Post!

Welcome to Tera-Info where I'll be posting all information regarding TERA. It will mostly be about NA, but if there's anything interesting going on in the other regions, I will also make posts about them as well.
